The paintings, collages, and animations of Brian Alfred explore how technology has altered how we see the environment and how we get information. In order to produce flattened, vivid colour fields with a handcrafted appearance, Alfred starts by reducing pictures to their basic contours.
In 1974, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, saw the birth of Brian Alfred. The universe in which we live is entwined with his creations. Alfred is fascinated by how our surrounds and environment, from problems with violence and unrest to the beauty of the countryside, and everything in between, affect who we are as a people. He uses a number of media, such as collage, painting, and animation, to create images of our environment. Ukiyo-e, popular culture, and American artists like Hopper and Sheeler are all influences on his work.
